Fresno County budget cuts public health and sets aside indigent-care money

Fresno County adopted a $5.49 billion budget on September 14, 2026, and Tulare adopted $2.26 billion the next day, as The Business Journal reported. Fresno cuts public health nearly $10 million and 16 positions, sets aside $10 million for indigent care, and will scale back mobile health.

Tulare expects people who lose coverage to return to Tulare County Medical Services.
