Travis County approves Central Health budget with 6% tax increase
Issue
Travis County commissioners approved Central Health's budget on September 15, 2026, with an effective property tax rate increase of 6%, KUT reported. The plan has about $650 million in expenses and $54 million in new mental health and crisis care spending, including $33.1 million for 22 psychiatric beds and 10 psychiatric emergency bays.
