Prop 43 would require two-thirds votes for voter-proposed local special taxes
Issue
California's official voter guide, certified August 10, 2026, says Proposition 43 would raise the vote needed for voter-proposed local special taxes from a majority to two-thirds. It applies to measures approved after January 1, 2027, which makes local health funding placed on the ballot by petition harder to pass.
Voters decide November 3.
