NHSC raises loan-repayment awards with funding set to end December 31
Issue
In 2026, the National Health Service Corps raised its maximum loan-repayment award to $75,000 for two years of full-time service by primary care clinicians in a primary care HPSA. Passing a Spanish proficiency test can add $5,000.
Its mandatory funding, $350 million for fiscal 2026, runs through December 31, 2026, the day the Community Health Center Fund also expires.
Corrected Oct 13, 2026: The record said NHSC funding was extended only through January 30, 2026 and ran on a continuing resolution. The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 funds it with $350 million for fiscal 2026 and through December 31, 2026.
