Printable toolkitFictional case: members are comparing two paid training benefit proposals. They want to know who can use the time and who covers the work.
Calculate both costs and prepare three questions for members before recommending either option.
A costs 10 × 4 × $25 + 10 × $25 = $1,250. B costs 10 × 6 × $25 = $1,500, with coverage unresolved. Ask who can attend in their shift, how duties would be covered, and which training people want. Record preferences and missing costs before the authorized group chooses a position.
Add one question for workers on a different shift.
B adds 20 paid coverage hours at the same rate.
Update the comparison and the decision question.
B now totals $2,000: $1,500 training plus $500 coverage. Ask members whether the added training and coverage meet their priorities, then ask the authorized decision group which proposal to advance within the available budget.
