Becerra and Hilton offer different Medi-Cal plans, CalMatters reports
Issue
CalMatters reported on September 28, 2026 that Democrat Xavier Becerra promises to keep covering every Californian hit by federal Medicaid cuts but has not said how he would pay. Republican Steve Hilton would replace part of Medi-Cal for the lowest-income enrollees with health spending accounts of $8,000 to $10,000 a year, keeping emergency coverage.
