Coalition for Health AI (CHAI)
The Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) announced PULSE (Public health Use case and Learning Scaling Engine) on July 16, 2026: OpenAI and Anthropic donated 10 enterprise licenses (up to 2,000 practitioner seats), and CHAI will select 10 jurisdictions — explicitly including eligible tribal authorities and Indian health organizations — to pilot five generative-AI use cases (drug-wave biosurveillance, social-determinants mapping, community-feedback analysis, multilingual translation, and FHIR query engines). Pilots begin fall 2026; national playbooks publish in 2027. Applications are accepted through August 7, 2026.
FQHCs are not named applicants, but tribal health organizations — some of which operate as FQHCs — are explicitly eligible, and the SDoH-mapping, multilingual-translation, and FHIR-query use cases map directly onto community-health-center operations. Health centers can also engage through their state and local public-health-department pathways. Honest read: this is public-health infrastructure with indirect FQHC relevance and a hard August 7 application deadline — not an FQHC-specific program.
