Lei Chou Thao leads AAPCHO, the national organization representing community health centers serving Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. AAPCHO provides technical assistance, conducts health disparities research, and advocates for linguistically and culturally appropriate care across the safety net. Thao brings deep expertise in health equity for under-resourced API populations.
AAPCHO produces some of the strongest health equity research in the CHC space, with data on language access, cultural competency, and disparities that directly affects how FQHCs design services. Thao's leadership is especially relevant for California FQHCs serving diverse API communities where language barriers affect care outcomes and UDS reporting.
